The best thing about Timber Falls? The constant memory-jogs of better movies. At the start of Tony Giglio’s bloodless horror you’ll reminisce about Deliverance and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. During the excruciatingly dull torture segment, where churchy rednecks interfere with irritating city-kids, the superior suffering of Saw and Hostel will leap to mind. And while rolling your eyes over the obvious yet implausible franchise-friendly coda, you’ll be zipped back to Friday The 13th’s finer finish. The sledgehammer swipes at fundamentalism may twist knickers in the Bible belt, but it’s not enough to animate this sloppy snorer. Timber falls flat.
