The SFX weekender just keeps on getting bigger. This week we’re pleased to announce three more people who'll be coming along, plus tease you with the first details of an author panel
Steve Beggs
Special effects supremo Beggs will be joining us for the essential SF event of 2010. Begg has worked in special and visual effects for more than 20 years, starting out in the big leagues with the likes of Aliens, Batman and Terrahawks. As well as being an accomplished digital matte artist, Steve Beggs has also supervised the model unit on films like Batman Begins, The Brothers Grimm and Casino Royale. His latest film, The Wolfman, is currently in post production and will be released in early 2010.
Meanwhile we have two more Tor authors lined up.
Adrian Tchaikovsky
The author of the insect-themed Shadows Of The Apt series will be joining us to talk fantasy literature. Tchaikovsky studied psychology and zoology at Reading University and during the day he's a legal executive in Leeds, where he lives with his wife and son. Meanwhile his not-so-secret identity is as a author, and Salute The Dark is the fourth in his popular series. Steve Feasey
With the likes of China Miéville and William Horwood coming along, you'd expect a cracking panel about young adult literature, and Steve Feasey is a new author who'll be contributing to that discussion. Feasey was born and brought up in Hertfordshire on adventure stories by Robert Louis Stevenson, Rudyard Kipling, Edgar Rice Burrows and Jack London. A late-comer to writing, Changeling is his first novel. It tells the story of Trey Laporte and his introduction to a world of demons and vampires. He cites Elmore Leonard, Ridley Pearson and Stephen King as authors he especially loves but is quick to point out he doesn’t consider Changeling a horror book: “I like to think of them as action-thrillers that just happen to have classical horror creatures as the main characters. I hope my readers will see them in the same way.”
