Thor: Ragnarok director says Thor would lead his own team in Civil War

It wasn't that long ago that Chris Hemsworth expressed his annoyance at not getting the call-up for Captain America: Civil War, making it pretty clear that Thor wouldn't side with Team Cap or Team Iron Man. Now Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi has weighed in on the debate, and it turns out he's in total agreement with his star:

"Personally, I feel Thor would have started his own team", Waititi told Fandango. "He wouldn’t have liked the idea of those teams. But, even though Thor is from outer space and he lives in a palace, part of me likes to think he would side with Cap. I would side with Cap purely because I don’t trust billionaires".

Given Thor's scrap with Iron Man in the first Avengers movie and his less than enthused reaction to Tony's Ultron bungling - not to mention his awesome combos with Captain America in Age of Ultron - it's not hard to imagine him siding with Steve Rogers in Civil War.

Waititi's first assertion is far more interesting though, and it begs the question of who would join Hemsworth's Asgardian on Team Thor. There's a good chance that Vision would sign up, seeing as he modelled his cape after the God of Thunder, who also helped create him. It's a little difficult to see others joining them, but do you really need anybody else when you have the two most powerful heroes (sans Hulk) on one team? Probably not.

Directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett, Karl Urban, and Mark Ruffalo, Thor: Ragnarok will be released in UK cinemas on October 27, 2017 before opening in US theatres on November 3, 2017.
