These GIFs of Link getting wrecked are the best thing about Zelda: Breath of the Wild so far
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has a lot of cool things going for it, but for my rupees the best element has already been laid bare: Link falling down and flopping around whenever he takes a solid hit, then getting right back up to fight again. Unless he's dead.
In previous Zelda games all you could expect from Link getting walloped was a pained grunt and a canned flinch/death animation. Now Breath of the Wild is set to expand into a whole new world of unintentional hilarity powered by impromptu ragdoll physics. Take a look:
You can get bounced off a tree
Or exploded by an ancient robot laser
And then again
You can get tazed real bad

Full disclosure: I've wasted hours trying to set up the perfect ragdoll slapstick situations in GTA 5, so this is definitely My Jam. But just you wait; Limp Link videos are going to be the next big thing once Breath of the Wild comes out. I can't wait to see the inevitable rolling-off-of-cliffs montage...

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
This new indie D&D campaign setting brings Studio Ghibli and Zelda: Breath of the Wild aesthetics and worldbuilding to the tabletop RPG, and I'm already scheming hard as a DM
After 3 years, these Legend of Zelda fans have finally finished decompiling the code of Majora's Mask to help modders and speedrunners - but there's "still tons of work to be done"
