There's a limited edition Dark Souls 3 PS4 coming but only to Japan (for now)
Amazing news! Sony and From Software have teamed up to create a limited edition PlayStation 4 featuring a choice of two Dark Souls 3 HDD bay covers. Less amazing news! For now at least, it's only planned for release in Japan. (via Siliconera.)
The console comes in a choice of black or silver, in both 500GB and 1TB flavours. As well as the essentials that come packaged as standard (USB cable, HDMI lead, DualShock 4 etc) buyers get all manner of Dark Souls 3 goodies. There's the game, both HDD bay covers, a custom theme, a DS3-themed sleeve, plus the soundtrack and a limited special map. That feeling of heartbreak you have right now over not living above a shop in Akihabara? I'm right with you.
There's no word on a UK or US release of the Dark Souls 3 PS4, but still a chance we at least get the HDD bay covers at some point. Sony made a big deal of the ability to customise your console in this way after launching their own range of faceplates in November, and DS3 plates going on sale over here would be a super-popular means of promoting the feature. Bloody, battle-weary fingers crossed.
Dark Souls 3 is released in Japan on 24 March and the rest of the world on 12 April.

I'm GamesRadar's sports editor, and obsessed with NFL, WWE, MLB, AEW, and occasionally things that don't have a three-letter acronym – such as Chvrches, Bill Bryson, and Streets Of Rage 4. (All the Streets Of Rage games, actually.) Even after three decades I still have a soft spot for Euro Boss on the Amstrad CPC 464+.
