The Wolverine gets an official synopsis
And James Mangold tweets some new updates
Filming on the long-delayed X-Men spin-off The Wolverine is finally well underway, and Fox has released a concise new synopsis to help build anticipation for the film.
"Based on the celebrated comic-book arc," begins the blurb, " The Wolverine finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed."
That celebrated comic-book ark would be referring to Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's take on the character, in which Wolverine travels to Japan and finds love in the arms of the daughter of a powerful Yakuza crime lord.
Meanwhile, director James Mangold has taken to Twitter to provide a few new updates on the project. "Movies I think about as I make #TheWolverine," he begins. "Eastwood’s Josie Wales , Powell’s Black Narcissus , Hitchcock’s Rear Window , Marnie , Vertigo ."
"Today I am starting an intense set piece of action and drama at the Yashida Compound set. Logan, Yukio and Shingen. Just finished pages. Made some tweaks. Scribbled out fresh shot list. About to head to set for day 14 of THE WOLVERINE."
The Wolverine opens in the UK on 26 July 2013.
