The Top 7 Edible Enemies in Video Games

Fourth Course: Tempura transformer
Monster Party (NES)

Monster Party has become the stuff of internet legend for its increasingly nonsensical bosses, who always mouthed some badly-translated taunt before they started in trying to smash you. And none were weirder than this batter-fried monster prawn, which we guess technically counts as undead, being a prawn and all.

So, OK, we can buy this bouncing side dish's connection to the "monster" theme of the game, however tenuous. But when you hit him enough times with your baseball bat (no mean feat, as he's a slippery one), he transforms into a giant onion ring. Onion rings can't be undead! That's stupid! This game is stupid!

The dude saves some face by next becoming some sort of fried meat skewer - again, technically undead - which turns out to be his final, threatening form before he's beaten into inedible paste. It might not be as flashy as turning red and twice as big, but at least it was something that had never been done before. Or since.
