Why you can trust 12DOVE
Thursday 19 October 2006
The first thing we thought when we woke up this morning was: today, we really want to play a game where you not only have to clean yourself, go to the toilet, do the dishes and tidy the house, but also clean the dog, feed the dog, take it for walks, play with it and then let it sleep on your bed because you can't afford a dog basket.
Then we realised we were half asleep. Because that sounds like a dull and dreary life, let alone a game to play for fun.More tedious than having to clean the bathroom for real, Sims 2 Pets has taken the familiar Sims build-your-own-condo world and added the cute and furry in an attempt to make itself more lovable.
Playing with your pets will increase your Sim's fun meter, as well as satisfying some of your Sims' aspirations, but while you can experience the game world through your pet's eyes for a time, you can't actually control anything it does.
Of course, being in command of a tropical fish would scarcely be a thrill a minute, but it'd be nice if we could at least choose where our dog dug up the garden, did its business and who it barked at, instead of presenting our human Sims with the option to tell the dog off for its various activities, then clear up the friendly puddle it's left behind in the kitchen as a gift.
