The Rock hints at possible Green Lantern role
Posts very suggestive Instagram hashtag
We've known since the beginning of the year that Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has been in talks with Warner Bros. over a possible DC movie role .
And now it looks like everyone's favourite mega-muscled leading man may have given the game away.
An Instagram post from back in November uses the hashtag #JohnStewartCanStillWhupSupermansAss.
It's a hashtag that's inoccuous to the masses, that is until you realise that John Stewart is the name of one of the DC comic universe's three most prominent Green Lanterns.
And while The Rock quickly tweeted a riposte aimed to deflect attention from the story, a Superman/JLA-related hashtag is a little too intriguing to completely ignore.
All I said was.. #LanternCanWhupSuperman RT: @IGN : Did @TheRock reveal that he's playing John Stewart/Green Lantern? http://t.co/J1ZIi433UX February 5, 2014
Due to the limp critical and commercial performance of 2011's sci-fi fantasy flick, it's unlikely that Ryan Reynolds will be recalled to reprise the role of Green Lantern Hal Jordan, so it's not too much of a stretch to surmise that DC will opt for another Lantern protagonist.
Add to that the rumours that DC could shoot a Justice League movie back-to-back with Batman vs Superman , the recent casting of Wonder Woman and rumours that even The Flash could make an appearance in Man of Steel 2 , and The Rock's Superman/JLA-related post doesn't seem so left-field.
