The Penguin set to nest in Batman: Arkham City

Batman: Arkham Asylum was a solid game and all, but aside from a few odd references, it was significantly lacking in web-footed aristocratic crime lords. Thankfully, Rocksteady Studios looks to be rectifying this grave oversight for the sequel, as the developer has confirmed the addition of Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, better known as Penguin, to its list of main baddies in Batman: Arkham City.

A teaser image for the fine-feathered psychopath surfaced in the most recent edition of the Australian Sunday Herald. It appeared alongside an interview with Rocksteady's marketing game manager Dax Ginn, who revealed that Penguin and his goons will indeed be residents of Arkham City, explaining, "The way that Penguin has always been portrayed is as quite an aristocratic, well-spoken gentleman who's got these twisted delusions of grandeur... So we've made him a really horrible, nasty piece of work, but still with the delusion of grandeur. He dresses well, but in a poor taste, and we've made him this brutish, brutal guy, but also key into collection fascination that he's had throughout the years."

Ginn explained that Penguin will be introduced after one of the Riddler's puzzles, and that he will waste no time in siccing his goons upon the Dark Knight, noting, "Penguin's faction is much more about the collection that he has within his museum of all sorts of things, but one of those things he collects is heavily artillery. So when you come up against his thugs in the street they are all going to have seriously heavy weapons, and that develops throughout the game as well."

Penguin's arrival to Arkham City isn't a huge surprise. Rocksteady teased his image throughout the first game, and a shot of Penguin's haunt, the Iceberg Lounge, was spotted in one of Arkham City's trailers. Revelation or not, the confirmation of Mr. Cobblepot should appeal to both fans of Batman and Danny DeVito. This is, of course, assuming they've hired DeVito to voice the part because, really, they'd be fools not to. See below for proof:
