The Old Republic’s Jedi Consular class showed off in new video

You thought it was going to be as easy as logging to The Old Republic, clicking your race, and then choosing between Jedi or Sith? Wow, were you wrong. Besides being able to stomp around the galaxy as the archetypal Force-users on either side of the spectrum, you’ll also have the option of choosing from a number of different classes that still wield lightsabers and choke out enemies with the Force. One option, the Jedi Consular, has been detailed in a newly released video by BioWare, and shows off how The Old Republic will be approaching the healing point on the holy trinity of MMO gaming.

Besides being able to heal, resurrect, and buff his allies, the Jedi Consular appears to be a fairly powerful foe on the battlefield, with more in common with Paladins than traditional RPG Clerics. The video shows him using stuns, chokes, and a massive area-of-effect ability with the power to decimate a group of enemies. It also demonstrates his proficiency with a lightsaber, meaning the healing class won’t be limited to the back of the battlefield, as is often the case in other games in the genre.

Not that it will stop the Jedi Consular’s party from blaming him when they die, even though he told them like fifty times that he was almost out of Force power and they didn’t listen when they initiated that group of Sith Warriors. We suppose that no matter the year or galaxy, no one will ever respect the healer.
