The next xXx movie gets a director
Ericson Core will marshall the Diesel-powered madness
After Rob Cohen ditched the job of directing the next xXx franchise entry, Sony has been hunting a replacement. And now they've found Ericson Core.
Who he? The cinematographer-turned-director launched his helming career with Mark Wahlberg American Football drama Invincible.
But he does have a link to Xander Cage himself - he was director of photography on the original Fast And The Furious way back in 2001.
While might explain while Diesel - who has approval on the man with the megaphone - is happy to work with him again to bring the extreme sports enthusiast/operative back to the big screen for xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage.
Despite word of Cage's death in the Diesel-free sequel, he'll be back at the NSA after an eight year absence, thanks to a script by Terminator Salvation scribes John Brancato and Michael Ferris.
Their work just got a quick polish from Richard Wilkes, who should know the character since he helped create him for the first movie.
There's no word on exactly when it'll start shooting yet, but with a director aboard, it'll likely kick into high gear soon...
