The Darkness II delayed from fall 2011 until February 2012
Supernatural shooter will still be playable at Comic-Con
2K has pushed the launch of supernatural action sequel The Darkness II to February 2012. The game, originally slated to launch in October, is now set to launch on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Feb 7 in the US and Feb 10 in Europe. The Wii U version of the game is still on track for the console's launch, and while that version won't be playable at Comic-Con as Nintendo's focus for the show is on the 3DS, the other iterations will be there. The title, based on Top Cow's comic The Darkness, will also be the focus of a panel discussion at the show.
With big-name releases such as Skyrim and Halo Anniversary launching in the October/November stretch of 2011, not to mention the culmination of the Battlefield/Modern Warfare pre-release conflict which has already claimed so many lives, a title like The Darkness II – whose pedigree and enthusiastic following aren't quite enough to boost it to tent-pole status – would likely be overlooked by many. Fans won't have to wait for early 2012 to hear Mike Patton recommence speaking in a Darkness-related context, though: the musician will join creatives from Top Cow and Digital Extremes in a Comic-Con discussion titled “Spreading the Darkness,” perhaps mentioning the just announced movie? That event will take place at 1pm this Thursday at the convention – is it enough to keep you going until February?
