The Crow flies again

Director Stephen Norrington is plotting a new version of graphic novel adaptation The Crow.

Yes, for all you younger readers sick of us older types complaining about the movies of our youth being “re-imagined”, now it’s happening to yours too.

Producer Eric Pressman (one of the team behind the 1994 original) is negotiating with Relativity Media for the production company to acquire the franchise and splash the cash to get it made.

Eric Draven

The film, which starred Brandon Lee (who died during its making) and was directed by Alex Proyas, featured the story of musical Eric Draven, murdered while trying to save his girlfriend from gangsters.

He’s resurrected one year via the power of a mysterious bird to exact bloody vengeance.

Sounds like Norrington will be taking a whole new approach: “Whereas Proyas’ original was gloriously gothic and stylized, the new movie will be realistic, hard-edged and mysterious, almost documentary-style,” he told Variety.

Yes, he is the man who made Blade . And he’s also the man who brought us The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen . We’ll reserve judgement… For now.

Who should play Eric Draven this time? And does Norrington's presence behind the camera worry you?
