The coat of a 1000 pockets...
...and 11 other gaming conventions to enhance our lives
Life sucks, and we know it. When hauling yourself out of bed on an icy morning, lugging home heavy bagfuls of shopping, or find yourself struck by some mystery - but explosively liquid - illness, it's natural to wish that things were better. "If only live was like a videogame," we might sometimes be heard to whisper to ourselves. Without the mass murder and casual violence, of course.
So, though it'll probably make us feel more depressed about life's many (many) shortcomings instead of improving matters, how about we investigate which videogame clichés and conventions would most enhance our daily drudgery? Come on, it'll be fun...
(Note: Fun not guaranteed)
The coat of a 1000 pockets
Who wouldn't leap at the chance to own a physics-defying coat in the style of every arsenal-hauling videogame hero? No more need for bulging bags - just store that shovel, television or large family cat in one of your new coat's miraculous 1000 pockets.
No item too big or too small. And you can carry as much as you like without the back-breaking weight, making this sartorial innovation a super useful purchase.
The only problem we predict is that your items will only be accessible through a scrolling list, rather than appearing in the pocket you put them in. A list whose first available selection always defaults to the things you never use, and actually can't even remember why you put them into your coat in the first place. Just like the mini freezer compartment in our fridge, then.
