More than 100 million copies of Tetris have been downloaded on 15 different platforms, but how manyhave been in1080p with 5.1-channel high-quality surround sound audio?
Wait, this is Tetris we're talking about, right? Right you are. EA, the owner of the Tetris rights in the US, has just launched the latest version of the Russian puzzler on PSN. All that amazing L-block action now comes to life with full, unfettered high-def video. And with 5.1-channel audio, classic Russian folk music never sounded so good.

Okay, so it's not exactly the perfect game to showcase with the latest technology. But it's here, with the PSN game titled, simply, Tetris.
Alexey Pajitnov, the game's legendary creator, put on his best press release voice and commented,"This is Tetris made for a big screen. We're very excited to bring Tetris to PlayStation Network with new game modes offering different and fun new ways to play. With high-definition graphics and surround sound, this Tetris game is a full experience. We're thrilled to bring this unique game to longtime fans and new players."
The PSN downloadable version of Tetris also has a handful of variations on the classic single-player puzzle game. Players can compete in co-op style puzzles, engage others to earn the fastest high score, and save replays of awesome matches. Online play is included.
We supposethe only thing we have to look forward to now is Tetris in stereoscopic 3D. (Which might actually be kind of cool.)
