Syfy Close To Greenlighting Ron Moores Helix
The Battlestar showrunner poised to return to the network with new sci-fi thriler
The US Syfy network is poised to greenlight a new series from Ron ( Battlestar Galactica ) Moore called Helix , reports Deadline .
The site reckons that Syfy is finalising a deal for a 13-episode straight-to-series order for the show, by-passing the pilot stage.
Helix is about a team of scientists who, while investigating a possible outbreak of a disease at an Arctic research facility, find themselves trying to protect the world from annihilation.
The series was developed by Cameron Porsandeh (based on his own spec script) who will also serve as co-executive producer. Moore and Lynda Obst ( Hot In Cleveland ) will executive produce.
(On a related note, something we missed when it surfaced a month ago was the news that Syfy is also considering a US remake of The Almighty Johnsons … Maybe we were just in denial).
