Supreme Commander
Chris Taylor's next big RTS is about to go nuclear. Boom, baby
Supreme Commander's heavily strategic gameplay makes you think about cost versus benefit - you'll have to decide early on what kind of army you need. Do you go for that huge wrecking-ball battleship or field a fleet of swift destroyers? You can never do everything, and that's the point: you'll need to make wise strategic decisions that outsmart your enemy. Scouting, coordination and combination of arms become more important than tactically out-maneuvering your enemy on a small scale or mining for resources.
Real-time strategy games have fallen into variations on a theme, and gamers are primed for a game to pick up the legacy of Total Annihilation - a game so deep that it only needs to be updated every eight years. Fans everywhere (ourselves included!) hope that Supreme Commander will be that game.
