It's going to take time to traverse the landscape, which means you need to plan ahead. Because at some point, a red blob is going to appear on your opponent's radar, and they will move to intercept. Or maybe you're hiding under a radar cloak, preparing a sneak attack. Or maybe you're just forcing the enemy to move to a specific position...
This is the difference zoom makes. Huge theatres of war enable you to develop grand strategies. And when you zoom out even further you'll start to use them. You'll love it when a plan comes together.
