How to find Yoshi in Super Mario Odyssey
CONSIDER THIS A SPOILER WARNING. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ABOUT SPOILERS FOR THE END OF SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY. THAT IS ALL.
If there’s one thing missing from Super Mario Odyssey, it’s his very best friend Yoshi. But turn that frown upside down, because your favourite little green lizard… dragon… thing… is in Super Mario Odyssey after all. You won’t actually be able to find him unless you work your way through the game’s storyline, but when you’ve beaten Bowser make sure to seek him out.
With Bowser taken down a peg or two, Peach rescued (again) and all being well and good across the Kingdoms, Mario’s got a little bit of time on his hands to generally mess about. So head to the Mushroom Kingdom and when you’ve stepped out of the Odyssey run up the path in front of you, over the bridge and up near the left hand side of Peach’s palace.

Here you’ll spot a little scarecrow. Throw Cappy at it and a staircase will appear that leads up to the roof of the palace. Make it up the steps before the timer runs out and you’ll be free to explore the rooftops. But more importantly, it’s up here that Yoshi is hiding.
Head across the roof and around the main tower to find a very familiar green spotted egg. Hit it with your shell and out pops your old pal.
But that’s not all. You won’t be able to jump on his back and ride him, but fling Cappy at him to go one better. You can become Yoshi.
From here feel free to frolic in Mushroom Kingdom as Yoshi, collecting as many apples as you can find to earn yourself some more Power Moons.
Elsewhere, you might find Yoshi lurking in some side missions, including one down a tunnel in Mushroom Kingdom. From the fountain, head towards the source of the river and there’s a tunnel with an apple in it. Use Yoshi to grab the apple and then head inside. And voila, a whole cloudy playground for Yoshi to play in.
