Suicide Squad's extended cut includes Harley pulling a gun on the Joker, a director cameo, and Katana unmasked

Miss Suicide Squad the first time around or want to give it another shot? You’re in luck, the extended cut is out now on Amazon Video. The Suicide Squad Extended Cut doesn’t have Batman v Superman levels of additional footage, but there are a few cool moments that, for my money, makes the film better than the one we saw in theatres.

The extended cut, as reported by Screenrant, is chock-full of interesting character beats: We see Katana’s face, a longer look at the banter-filled bar scene between the misfits, and Killer Croc throwing up(!) during the helicopter ride to Midway City. There’s even a cameo from director David Ayer tucked away in one scene too.

Probably the most important part of the extended cut is the extra scenes we get between Harley Quinn and The Joker. Their relationship in the theatrical cut is… kinda icky and probably abusive. The extended cut moves to correct that with Harley playing more of a role in why The Joker became so crazed. She erased his mind, the Clown Prince of Crime says in an extra scene – which goes some way to explaining why The Joker was so angry with his maddening muse.

The best moment, though, comes later on in the movie. Without spoiling too much, we finally get to see Harley’s motorcycle chase with The Joker. It was a big scene from the trailers but was missing from the original cut and it looks like it won’t disappoint. It even ends with Harley pulling a gun on The Joker. It looks like it's worth watching the extended cut just for this scene.

Directed by David Ayer and starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, and Joel Kinnaman, the Suicide Squad Extended Cut is out on Digital Download from November 28, 2016 and 4K, Blu-ray 3D, and Blu-ray from December 5, 2016.
