Stray Dogs review

A companion piece to her daughter's At Five In The Afternoon, Marzieh Meshkini's Stray Dogs is another impassioned despatch from Kabul. Siblings Gol-Ghotai and Zahed, whose parents have been incarcerated, are forced to roam the streets. There's a powerful immediacy to the images of the devastated city, but the film veers towards sentimentality in its portrayal of the kids and their rescued puppy.
