Straczynski does zombies

It's been announced that J Michael Straczynski will be scripting a film adaptation of World War Z for Paramount. The announcement was made on Friday as part of a panel at the New York Comic-Con. Sadly we can't provide any quotes from Straczynski about the project, so all we can do is redirect you to this report from IGN .

We can tell you about the novel though. World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War is a cleverly-constructed account of a 28 Days Later-esque catastrophe in which a virus pandemic has turned most of the world's population into zombies, and threatens to overwhelm the globe until humans decide to fight back. The novel is made up of over 40 "personal accounts" from war survivors, all from different walks of life and all of whom played different parts in the catastrophe and resulting war. Thanks to the unusual construction it'll be interesting to see how it's reworked into a film format. The novel was written by former Saturday Night Live writer Max Brooks and is a follow-up to his previous novel, the mock survival manual The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection From the Living Dead.
