Steven Spielbergs War Horse lands a first trailer
“You can’t look down, you have to look forward”
The first trailer for Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of the novel War Horse has battled its way online.
Though it comes with Spanish subtitles (what’s with foreign trailers this week ?), it’s still a thing of quiet beauty.
Based on the book by Michael Morpurgo, War Horse follows farmer’s son Albert (Jeremy Irvine), who befriends a horse named Joey against the backdrop of WW1.
The two are wrenched apart when Joey’s sent off to war, and changes the lives of those he meets on his journey through the battlefield.
Easily transporting the magic of the story’s successful stageplay onto the big screen, this first trailer gives us some truly gorgeous vistas as well as a humble, trembling score from John Williams.
Spielberg just brought his A game, and you can bet the Academy Awards are paying attention.
Check out the trailer below…
War Horse opens 13 January 2012.
