Steve Martin quashes Father Of The Bride 3 rumours
Star had been linked to gay-marriage storyline
Steve Martin has moved to quash stories concerning a potential Father Of The Bride threequel, claiming that he has received no contact over the rumoured project.
It had initially been reported that the second sequel would see Martin spluttering and stammering through another wedding, with the twist being that it would be his son getting married to the son of a US Navy Seal.
However, Martin took to Twitter yesterday to say, "so excited to read I'm doing Father Of The Bride 3 since I haven't seen a script or been offered the role."
Sounds like a case of jumping the gun then, although we might point out that Martin doesn't deny the existence of the film, merely the notion that he'd already signed on to star.
The gay marriage angle actually sounds like quite a good way to freshen up an old idea, so don't be surprised if there are further developments on this one a little way down the track…
