Why you can trust 12DOVE
Based on the riveting novella in his Full Dark, No Stars collection, this is Stephen King’s first self-adapted feature screenplay since 1989’s Pet Sematary. But King going to the movies is not always a good thing – he adapted and directed Maximum Overdrive from his short story ‘Trucks’, after all.
At once overwrought and stubbornly dull, this flatline thriller benefits from the author’s colourfully colloquial dialogue but squanders the OMG premise – a woman discovers her hubby of 25 years is a serial killer – and top casting (Joan Allen and Anthony LaPaglia). Shame.
