Stephen Dorff wants War Of The Gods
Joins sword-and-sandals epic...
Stephen Dorff has signed up to Tarsem Singh’s War Of The Gods .
The Blade and Public Enemies actor will play Stavros, a master of thieves who helps Theseus (Henry Cavill) as he quests to free Greece from the grip of the Titans.
Charley and Vlas Parlapanides’ script was bought by Relativity Media for six figures, and the studio are looking to turn the swords-and-sandals epic into a possible 3D extravaganza filmed in the vein of 300 . Machine Gun Preacher writer Jason Keller has written the flick’s newest draft.
The official (very wordy) plotline, for those just joining the table:
A purported bastard who retains an allegiance to his mother despite the fact that he longs to join the quest of a king who is battling demons in ancient Greece later embarks on a grail of discovery that has him finding he is the king’s son and also fated to become his country’s greatest hero as he leads the successful war against long-imprisoned Titans who are hoping to use the demons to restore their power.
Freida Pinto of Slumdog Millionaire will star as an oracle priestess named Phaedra, who helps Theseus on his journey, while Mickey Rourke has signed on to play King Hyperion.
Universal Pictures have stuck a pin in 11th November, 2011 for the film’s release.
