Stealth gameplay shown in new Assassin's Creed 4 video

Ubisoft has released a new Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag gameplay walkthrough video focused on stealth assassinations. Narrated by game director Ashraf Ismail, the seven minute video sees protagonist Edward Kenway trying to stay undetected as he takes out enemies in three different locations: some caverns, the jungle and Havana.

Edward doesn't have any weapons or tools in the caverns section, a risk players take when they access underground caves via diving, so stealth abilities are required to gain the upper hand in combat. “We’ve enhanced the Eagle Vision so you can tag enemies and see them through walls,” says Ismail. “It’s important for us to push the stealth and make it a viable way to play the game if you choose to. Being a great assassin makes you a better pirate. Once you learn and master the tools you have in your hands, you’ll be able to stealth through almost any situation.”

The second section of the video takes place in Havana, one of the game’s three main cities, which Ismail says was “built as a homage to the cites of Assassin’s Creed 2”. He adds: “Climbing and free running is very important to the brand. Havana has been built with this in mind. There are lots of ways of getting on roofs and finding access to hidden areas.” A side activity sees the player taking out a local Templar. With these contracts, you earn more money if you complete them without being detected, so it’s a good idea to take out possible threats before moving on to your main target.

Assassin's Creed 4 will launch on October 29 in the US and November 1 in the UK on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. The PC version is expected to release shortly after, while PS4 and Xbox One editions are due to launch when the consoles arrive some time this year.
