First4Figures, Rebellion and Dark Horse have revealed the first in a new range of 2000 AD statues. Et voila : Dredd Versus Death, based on the famous cover image illustrated by Greg Staples.
Judge Dredd's got to be one of the most iconic characters to emerge from a British comic - he was originally published in the pages of 2000 AD back in 1977 (good year for SF, that one). And his greatest opponent is Judge Death himself, who treats all life as a crime.
The collectable is inspired by Greg Staples' cover pic of Death locked in combat with the Dreddster. It is fully hand-painted, standing over 11 inches tall, and will be limited to 1,000 numbered statues. They will be available from December 2007. Apparently registered users of the official 2000 AD website will get 20% off the whopping £149.99 retail price if they sign up before 30 September.
