Stars flock to Museum
Williams, Rooney and Van Dyke join Stiller...
Night At The Museum helmer Shawn Levy is beginning to give Bobby director Emilio Estevez a run for his money – between the two of them, half of Hollywood is in gainful employment throughout the start of 2006.
Levy has just added another three Movieland legends to his roster – already boasting turns from Ben Stiller and Carla Gugino - that sees Stiller playing a doofus security guard who inadvertently unravels an ancient curse that brings the exhibits at New York’s Museum Of Natural History to life.
Veteran gag-slingers Mickey Rooney and Dick Van Dyke have scribbled on the dotted line to suit up as Ben’s fellow security buddies.
Arguably, Levy’s finest piece of casting however comes in the shape of Robin Williams, who has signed up to play Museum founder Theodore Roosevelt – with this latest bout of big name signings, Levy is clearly buzzing about the project.
“We're going to shoot several days with Ben and several of the other cast members in New York and then we build the interior of a museum in Vancouver,” the Cheaper By The Dozen helmer says with a smile. “This movie is a love letter to museums and museum culture.”
Shooting begins this week with a release date slated for late 2006, early 2007.
