StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm sells 1.1 million in 48 hours
Blizzard's latest expansion pack zerg rushes onto PCs worldwide
StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm sold 1.1 million units in its first 48 hours after launch. Activision Blizzard revealed the figures in a press release today, also noting another 1.1 million tuned in to the developer's 21-hour launch day livestream.
The expansion pack launched globally on March 12. Of course, Blizzard's real-time strategy update didn't come close to dethroning its last big release, Diablo III, which sold more than 3.5 million copies in its first day alone. It didn't quite best StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, either, which moved more than 1.5 million in its first two days.
Electronic Arts' big-time PC exclusive SimCity sold 1.1 million units recently, as well. That was in its first two weeks, though.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
