The best Star Wars Jedi Survivor lightsaber stances aren't supposed to be a thing - rather, stances are supposed to be specific counters to certain enemies, weapons and threats, such as the blaster being a ranged option and the double-bladed being used to handle groups. With five different lightsaber stances to be unlocked across Star Wars Jedi Survivor, players can have two of them equipped at any one time, swapping between them on the fly and slotting new stances in or out when you're at meditation points.

Problem is, without foreknowledge of the threats to come, it's hard to know what stance would be best. So unless you have a specific clue about what's coming, we've highlighted the most reliable and arguably best lightsaber stances in Star Wars Jedi Survivor below, not to mention laying out the specific function that each stance is supposed to have, and how you can unlock every stance in the game.

These are the best Star Wars Jedi Survivor lightsaber stances ranked:

  1. Double-bladed: A powerful and versatile stance that works well for most combat encounters, especially with lots of enemies.
  2. Crossguard: Extremely powerful, especially against later bosses and enemies, but it's slow speed makes it the hardest to master.
  3. Dual Wield: Best at taking down early bosses, but less useful against more powerful foes later on.
  4. Single: A good standard option, but it becomes less useful as you progress due to a lack of versatility
  5. Blaster: Only really good against enemies you can shoot without them dodging and deflecting, and the saber is too low-damage to be useful against the rest.

Overall, the double-bladed stance is the best Star Wars Jedi Survivor stance, with the crossguard a very close second. There's an honorable mention too for the dual wield blades, for a speedy high damage option. It really does depend on how you play but for me the top two will easily get you through the entire game. However, one of the biggest Star Wars Jedi Survivor tips here really is to try them all and see works best for you.

  • Single blade: the classic. A decent option in almost all fights, designed to be an "all-rounded option.
    • How to unlock: Default option, available from the start.
  • Double-bladed: two blades, one from each end of a central hilt, Darth Maul-style. Best in combat against multiple foes due to its ability to hit nearby enemies as well as your initial target, and good for parrying large amounts of blaster shots.
    • How to unlock: Unlocked very early during the game's first level.
  • Dual Wield: two blades, one in each hand. A fast-paced and persistent attack style that's best against individual foes and also allows you to disengage from combat by canceling attacks with the block button.
    • How to unlock: Earned during the first boss fight on Coruscant.
  • Blaster: a lightsaber in one hand and a blaster pistol in the other. Best against ranged foes and with a melee style based on quick lunges. Features a charge shot but limited ammo, which is replenished by attacking.
    • How to unlock: Play the main story until you leave Jedha for the first time. The Blaster will be obtained during a cutscene when you do.
  • Crossguard: a heavy, two-handed stance with slow but powerful attacks and a strong defence. Best against single foes - large animals or characters that put little emphasis on blocking.
    • How to unlock: Progress the main story until the Shattered Moon sequence, whereupon you'll get the crossguard modifier.
