The Star Wars Jedi Survivor droid puzzle is something you'll encounter soon after you land on Koboh, but you won't be able to do anything with it initially. After meeting the pit droid you'll discover they have a transporter stuck in tar that needs recovering, but you don't have the specific power at that point to be able to help them. Until Cal gets access to the Force Lift ability later in the story and returns to the area, the droid's hovercraft-like vessel is remaining firmly stuck in that tar pit, so don't worry too much about it to begin with. Follow this guide to find out what you need and where you can get it, to help the Star Wars Jedi Survivor pit droid solve their problem.
How to help the Star Wars Jedi Survivor pit droid
When you first encounter the Star Wars Jedi Survivor droid puzzle after arriving on Koboh, you won't be able to do anything. That's because you need one of the later Star Wars Jedi Survivor abilities, Force powers and gear, specifically the Force Lift ability. This isn't unlocked until much further on in the story, during a mission where you need to go to the derelict Lucrehulk elsewhere on Koboh.
It's a story critical mission and unlock so you can't miss it, you'll just have to wait until you learn Force Lift and Force Slam together in Star Wars Jedi Survivor. Once you do, and you're free to explore again, you can head back to the pit droid by the tar pit (use either the Derelict Dam or Gorge Crash Site fast travel points to get there) and help it out with your new power - just use Force Lift (R1 + Triangle/RB + Y) on the transport to lift it onto the surface of the tar pit.
Once you've helped them, the pit droid will join you at Rambler's Ranch, where it'll set about pottering around the Mantis Launch Pad, and you'll also get a crystal to boost your stats with. While you're in the area you'll probably find the Star Wars Jedi Survivor friendly creature, another puzzle you'll need to come back to when you unlock a certain new power.
