Star Wars 1313 is gone, but its story may yet be told

Star Wars 1313, the visually stunning game centered on a young Boba Fett revealed at E3 2012, is dead - but it’s not without value in the minds of Disney. Speaking to SlashFilm, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy said the studio hasn't forgotten about the project, nor have they forgotten George Lucas' concepts for a live-action Star Wars television show with the working title Star Wars: Underworld.

"Our attitude is, we don’t want to throw any of that stuff away. It’s gold," she said. "And it’s something we’re spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further. We definitely want to."

So does this mean that we'll see Star Wars 1313 or Star Wars: Underworld after all? Well, not necessarily, or at least not as we currently know them. Remember when Disney announced all Star Wars material going forward would unite under one continuity and previous expanded universe (EU for short) projects would be collated under the "Legends" banner? The company clarified that EU material would not be totally discarded, and would indeed serve as inspiration for the new continuity.

For example: The Inquisitor, the Imperial Security Bureau, and Sienar Fleet Systems all show up in the Star Wars Rebels animated series, and those concepts all originated in the EU. Likewise, Kylo Ren's mask bears more than a passing resemblance to the one worn by Darth Revan from Knights of the Old Republic. So when Kennedy says Disney "may develop [1313 and Underworld] further," I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out she means "and put those ideas into something else."

Also keep in mind that former Legacy of Kain and Uncharted series writer Amy Hennig has yet to reveal the Star Wars project she's working on over at Dead Space developer Visceral Games. Considering her previous work, depicting the criminal underworld (even on a galactic scale) doesn't seem too far-fetched.
