Star Trek Online should be beaming up a ton of new players today. The Federation’s official MMO now has a free to play option, allowing captains to take the bridge without spending a dime.
With the addition of F2P, Trek fans have been divided into two tiers: Gold and Silver. Gold players are paying subscribers, dropping $15 a month for an additional character slot, a bigger inventory, and instant access to the Foundry, the games tool set for user-made content. A complete breakdown of Gold and Silver features is available here.
To celebrate the F2P announcement, Cryptic Studios has released a trailer that follows a raw recruit as he climbs his way to Admiral. The epic voice-over will have you feeling the call of the Prime Directive.
