SSX delayed until February 28, 2012
Slight delay offset by new gameplay footage
Todd Batty, Creative Director on Electronic Arts' upcoming SSX reboot, has announced that the game's release date will be pushed back a few weeks. Sure, fans have been waiting for the game since it was a gritty "gogogo" thriller – what's a few more weeks to give the game, as Batty says, “the final bit of polish we think it deserves”?
Batty says that studios always release a game wishing there'd been just a little more time to get things right – and that the distinguishing factor in classics like SSX Tricky has been the team's willingness to take that time. He says that waiting until the revised street date of Feb 28 will allow the team to tie of “all the little things that may not be noticeable during the first hour or two playing the game, but are appreciated over the course of days, weeks, months and beyond.”
To make sure you don't throw up your hands and defect to whatever other star-studded snowboarding franchise you can think of, EA's released some new gameplay footage from the title. The new clip offers a good look at the game's epic scope, fluid trick moves, and chopped-up musical soundtrack. Think it'll be worth the 2-3 weeks' extra wait?
