Square Enix shocks world with Elevator Action reboot on PSN

Square Enix surprised everyone with the release of Elevator Action Deluxe, a reboot of the 1983 arcade game by Taito, the creators of Space Invaders and Bubble Bobble. For those who don't remember, in classic Elevator Action you assume the role of Agent 17. The goal is to use a series of elevators and stairs to steal secret documents, reach the bottom floor of a building, and escape in a car. Along the way enemy agents appear from behind closed doors with orders to shoot on sight and occasionally duck. It's a lot like Metal Gear on a budget. Here's a look at the new version:

The objectives are still the same but Elevator Action Deluxe has new bad guys, new traps, and a local four-player multiplayer mode as well as a surprising Teen rating from the ESRB — must be the agent's ribald hairstyle. The new game is available for PS3 via the PlayStation network, and you can download it for a modest $9.99.
