Spyro returns once again
[Multi] Vivendi announces a new adventure for the purple dragon
Monday 8 May 2006
Spyro, the much-travelled purple dragon, will be returning this autumn for all present generation consoles, GBA and DS in Vivendi's The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning.
The game apparently "uncovers the true origin of Spyro the Dragon as he evolves into a living, breathing weapon of explosive destruction," which suggests that the action will be more dynamic than we've come to expect from the ageing platform hero.
Spyro will be able to unleash ground-to-air melee combos and other furious attacks as he scraps his way through the action/adventure game.
One big point of interest is the voice talent Vivendi has managed to assemble for the game: Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood will provide the voice for Spyro; Hollywood rent-a-psycho Gary Oldman will voice Ignitus the Fire Dragon Elder; and David Spade will provide the comedy quips as Spyro's sidekick, Sparx the Dragonfly. Obviously they must all be fans of the original games.
