Spurious Awards Of The Week
Superhero squirrels, fantasy Olympians, Star Wars babies, Cyberman winners who are really losers and a whole load more stuff and nonsense
PIROUETTE OF THE WEEK
[VAMS id="zNll3IdQ9SR1b"]
The USA should have entered Teen Wolf’ s Derek for the Olympic gymnastics if this graceful tumble is anything to go by; his pirouette is so fast, the camera couldn’t even catch it. (The officials don’t do blood tests for lycanthropy do they?)
CAREER CHANGE OF THE WEEK
The body-hugging blue lycra. The visor. The aerodynamic head gear. The white gloves. The thighs bigger than the waist. We reckon Frozone has changed nationality and joined the French Men’s Cycling Sprint team at the Olympics. That’s the real reason Philip Hindes fell off his bike. Nothing to do with loophole-friendly cheating; he slipped on some ice.
UNLUCKIEST WINNER OF THE WEEK
Why Cybermen should avoid being too competitive at the Olympics, drawn and tweeted to us by @NobbyNobody.
MOST SURPRISING GEEK OF THE WEEK
Mexican gymnastics Olympian Elsa Garcia Rodriguez Blancas performed her qualifying routine for the Olympic gymnastics floor exercise to a medley of Zelda songs. Not that it impressed the judges. Sadly she came 35th.
GUEST STAR OF THE WEEK
We were surprised to see Little Shop Of Horrors ’ Audrey 2 turn up in this week’s Warehouse 13 , especially as the beasties were supposed to spring from the imagination of HP Lovecraft, not Jim Henson. The mean green mother from outer space clearly has ambitions.

Skyfall trailer meets Dark Knight Rises trailer. Genius, especially whenever Silva (Javier Bardem) speaks in Bane’s voice.
PUN OF THE WEEK
It’s Han Solo in… wait for it… guitarbonite! [via Travis Stevens Nerd Crafts ]
The New Spitting Image Of The Week

Community performed by… paper bags. A whole series, please. (Wonder if Dan Harmon was secretly behind it?)
BEFORE THEY WERE FAMOUS PHOTOS OF THE WEEK
Well, we’ve had Muppet Babies , so why not Star Wars Babies ? (Actually, don’t say that too loudly anywhere near George Lucas.) They’re available to buy via Etsy .

SELF-DEFEATING COVER VERSION OF THE WEEK

This is clever. It’s kinda funny. It looks pretty expensive. But it’s still A BLOODY JUSTIN BIEBER SONG, and it sets your teeth on edge. C-3PO in a Bieber wig is amusing, though. Probably best to watch, not listen.
CELLPHONE RINGTONE OF THE WEEK
Right, this one’s a bit long, and only sporadically funny, but we’ve included it purely for the bit when Batman’s cellphone goes off.
FASHION ITEM OF THE WEEK
Batman motorbike leathers. Go on, admit it – you want them even if you don’t own a motorbike. Expect them to turn up in a zillion YouTube videos soon… [via GeeksAreSexy ]
