In an incredibly listless week for the charts, Spider-Man 2 continues to dominate top position even though sales of the game are down. In fact, of the top seven titles, which are all non-movers, only Need for Speed Underground didn't drop in sales.

We continue to suffer the summer release drought but Sony's Formula One '04 performs well, coming straight in at number eight. No other new releases penetrate the top 20 and there are only two re-entries, most notably Sonic Heroes, which speeds up 13 places to nab the 10 slot.

The only saving grace is that the charts are finally rid of the various virus software packages that have haunted the top 10 for some months. This is due to the new ELSPA/Chart-Track Entertainment Software Chart which only includes games and children's software.

The really good news is that true quality releases are only a stone's throw away, with the superb Chronicles of Riddick for Xbox and the hugely anticipated PC version of Doom 3 both hitting shelves on 13 August.
