The rebooted big screen Spider-Man franchise will swing into cinemas worldwide in 3D on 3 July, 2012, Sony has announced. The new film is still untitled and without a star, but will begin production later this year under the direction of Marc Webb (oh, they really know how to make headline writers happy) from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt. Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin will produce the film from Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios.
Commenting on the announcement, a Sony bigwig said, "Spider-Man is the ultimate summer movie-going experience, and we're thrilled the filmmakers are presenting the next installment in 3D. Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters in the world, and we know audiences are eager and excited to discover Marc's fantastic vision for Peter Parker and the franchise."
And how long will it be before headlines announcing that films will be in 3D won’t actually be news anymore? Sometime next week, maybe?
