Hope you're ready for more Spider-Man in the near future. Kevin Feige, head honcho in charge of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that everyone's favorite wall-crawler will star in at least four more Marvel films, including the as-of-yet untitled Avengers 4. All told, that's:
Spider-Man: Homecoming (July 2017)
Avengers: Infinity War (May 2018)
Avengers 4 (May 2019)
Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel (July 2019)
Man, Marvel and Disney are really making up for lost time aren't they? First Spider-Man shows up in Captain America: Civil War, and now this. It's like the folks in charge looked at Sony and said, "Oh you think five movies, including a reboot, within 12 years is good? Hold our collective beers. We'll put ol' webhead in five movies within three years." Beyond that? Who knows. Feige said that's as far as the plan goes for now.
Look. I love Spidey, but five movies within the span of three years is a lot - even if he's not the main character in two of them. I don't want myself or anyone else to experience burnout of this amazing character. So let's just pump the brakes a little bit, Feige.
Meanwhile, over at Sony, plans are in motion for a standalone Venom movie and a Silver Sable / Black Cat team-up flick.
