Spider-Man: Homecoming will include Spidey’s old-school ‘web wings’ – courtesy of Tony Stark
Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can… and more – thanks to the inclusion of Spidey’s iconic web wings in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Reported by Collider, a short clip from Comic Con Experience 2016 in Brazil revealed Tom Hollander’s Peter Parker being given a few “minor upgrades” by Tony Stark.
The clip, not yet released publicly, shows Peter Parker’s POV as he meets Stark’s man Happy (it sure is nice to see Jon Favreau back!). Happy isn’t too pleased at Spidey’s suit, suggesting that he goes and finds Tony’s package in his apartment. Lo and behold, in the next scene, Spider-Man is shredding through New York with a brand-new look, web wings included. The perks of having a billionaire friend, eh?
The web wings will stretch from the “waist to the middle of his arm” which, as webheads may notice, isn’t too dissimilar to those shown in the classic Amazing Spider-Man #1 pose.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is shaping up nicely as Marvel clearly has its eye on the little things: The blend of a classic costume with a slightly more modern take on Spider-Man’s red and blue webbed costume can only mean that the franchise is safe in Marvel’s money-spinning hands.
Directed by Jon Watts and starring Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei and Donald Glover, Spider-Man: Homecoming will hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
