Once upon a time in an E3 far, far away, Sony revealed a magical PlayStation Move “showpiece” that would one day revolutionize motion-controlled gaming and save PS Movers from the evils of buyer's remorse. That game was Sorcery; and that day is now. Well, May 22 in North America if we're being technical (May 23 for the UK).
Alas, two years since its first appearance at E3 2010, the PS Move champion is finally ready to fulfill its destiny. Sony celebrated the release date announcement with new photos and character art from the upcoming wand-venture, which promises to offer an “action packed magical adventure where the PlayStation Move is your magic wand and only you, a sorcerer’s young apprentice, can harness the true power of magic to save this mystical realm from the darkness of the Nightmare Queen”.
Sorcery tells the tale of an apprentice named Finn who trespasses into the realm of the dead and unleashes the ancient evils that dwell within. Armed with a wand and a talking feline sidekick, players must train Finn in the arcane arts and lead him through various fantasy environments in order to execute the Nightmare Queen and become a grown up sorcerer.
Now that Sorcery finally has a date, it will be interesting to see if it holds up to Sony's hype. Actually, it will be interesting to see if it even sells since it's about a year late to the PS Move party. From what we saw in our latest preview, it certainly has a chance. Hopefully it can make up for lost time when appears on shelves this spring.
