Sign up for PlayStation 3's Network
Essential this, if you want to get playing online or grabbing downloadable movies or games. Scroll the cross media bar (or XMB ) to find the Friends option.

In here, you should see a Network sign up selection, so hit that and follow the steps. It's totally free, but don't forget to have a credit card handy to set up your PlayStation Store account.
