Simon Kinberg says Deadpool is a "hard R"
Ever since a solo Deadpool movie was confirmed by Fox, there has been much debate as to how many concessions to mainstream audiences will be made when adapting the famously adult source material. And in news that is sure to please fans, producer Simon Kinberg has confirmed that the film will not be pulling any punches.
"Deadpool is a hard R,” says Kinberg in an interview with EW. “It’s graphic. Nothing is taboo. You either commit to a truly outrageous boundary-pushing kind of movie or you don’t." It's an approach backed up by director Tim Miller who says that Deadpool's world is very different from the traditional X-Men universe.
"I felt Fight Club and Tyler Durden were good corollaries,” says Miller. “We are in strip clubs and dive bars and crappy apartments and far away from the shiny X-Men world. Sounds very promising indeed. Starring Ryan Reynolds in the title role, Deadpool will open in the UK on 5 February 2016 and the US a week later.
