Simon Cowell blasts Dreamgirls star...
American Idol wasn’t a ‘stepping stone’ for Jennifer Hudson, apparently...
She might be an Oscar-winning actress, and the star of the most popular musical since Chicago, but Simon Cowell seems to think Jennifer Hudson is far from being above his pop music talent show.
Cowell was offended she didn’t mention American Idol in her Oscar acceptance speech – honestly, we’re not making this up. “Jennifer Hudson said American Idol was a ‘stepping stone’ for her. Stepping stone? It was her big opportunity to become noticed and she got noticed and she got Dreamgirls,” he said. “Singers like her deliberately turn against the show that made them successful. The reason (people) come on the show is because all the doors had been slammed in their face.”
And, of course, natural talent has nothing to do with it. Not to mention the fact that Hudson was voted off the show by viewers before the final...
Expect to see more American Idol contestants taking home the golden boy over the next few years. Or, indeed, not.
