Sherlock Holmes put on hold
Ceases production as Ritchie and Madonna split
The production of Sherlock Holmes is reportedly on hold, due to the impending divorce of Guy Ritchie and Madonna.
Ritchie has flown to France to inform his parents that he is to split with the pop star, The Sun is reporting.
We hope they don’t read British newspapers when abroad. Or watch TV. Or talk to anyone, for that matter.
“It will be a very big production, visceral and intellectual”
Until the production freeze, Sherlock Holmes was on track for a 2010 release. Both Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr were recently spotted filming in London on location, but whether they remain attached is unclear.
Ritchie had aimed to make the film a big event picture, emphasising the fictional character’s physical prowess as well as his detective skills.
Here’s hoping he comes through the obvious personal trauma and feels up to returning to the movie soon. It looked quite interesting.
