Sherlock confronts his past in new Mr. Holmes trailer
A new trailer has appeared online for Mr. Holmes, starring Ian McKellen as an ageing Sherlock, attempting to correct some of the misconceptions publicised about his career while also re-examining a confounding case that has thus far left him defeated…
The new film will jump between time periods, as the retired Holmes attempts to sift through his memories of the case, with the assistance of his housekeeper’s young son, Roger. Can the greatest mind of his generation find the missing pieces to solve the mystery, or will old age thwart Holmes at the last?

Much as we love Benedict Cumberbatch’s take on the role, it’s exciting to see McKellen as a more traditional Holmes, albeit one who is only too happy to debunk the myth of the deerstalker and pipe. He’s a cigar man, apparently…
Directed by Bill Condon and co-starring Laura Linney, Roger Allam and Frances De La Tour, Mr. Holmes will open in the UK on 19 June 2015 and the US on 17 July 2015.
