Shadow of the Colossus Movie On Its Way
Legend of Chun-Li writer on board for PS2 adaptation
If there aren't already enough videogame-based films on the way, you can add the PlayStation 2 stunner Shadow of Colossus to the list, as Hollywood snaps up the giant slaying franchise for the movie works.
Justin Marks, writer on the recently-released Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, has been handed writing privileges for the movie. No other cast or crew has so far been attached.
If you've never played the game, you play a chap who travels to a forbidden land to ask a powerful spirit to revive his dead lady friend. The spirit agrees, but only if he slays 12 colossi - enormous giants big enough to put the Oliphaunts in Return Of The King to shame.
Its art style and tense giant-climbing gameplay made it one of the best games of the generation, but its fairly minimalist plot hardly lends itself to the big screen. Unless Michael Bay directs it, of course.
